Student Grievances
MCC’s grievance policy ensures fair and rapid consideration of student complaints in a non-threatening setting. Students may grieve actions they believe are unjust, inequitable, or a hindrance to effective performance.
Six-Step Grievance Procedure
- Step 1 — Direct discussion between the student and the involved faculty or staff member.
- Step 2 — If unresolved, the student meets with the faculty / staff member’s immediate supervisor.
- Step 3 — Within five school days, submit a signed grievance form to the Vice President of Student Development Services. Forms are available in the Registrar’s Office.
- Step 4 — The VP schedules a Hearing Committee meeting within five school days to establish facts and recommend action.
- Step 5 — The Committee submits findings within ten school days to the VP, the student, the staff member, and the College President.
- Step 6 — Either party may appeal in writing to the President within three school days. The President decides within ten school days.
